at 8 oClock on Wednesday morning the 30th: we weighed Anchor and Steared over NEBN for Rhode Island Cleared Ship for Engaging Expecting to Sail Emediatly into the Harbour of Newport at 12 oClock we arrived of[f] the Harbour and Laid off anon till 4 oClock when the Admiral made a signal for the fleet to anchor except one frigate & one 64 Gun Ship who was Sent to Guard the passage to the East end of Rhode Iland Called Secunnet1 the fleet anchored in about 20 fathoms & the Light house about N by W. 5 miles two pilots Came on board
